So you want to be baptized?
We will
start with a short history, the very basics one needs to understand man's or
woman's requirements for God to be pleased with them.
Read Genius
Chapter 1, 2 & 3. This should be read a couple times. Also read Matthew, Mark,
Luke and John. Then read 1 John. I should say read the whole Bible, but I will
point out specific places to read for now and let concentrate on those.
What we
find here is that God did indeed create the world and in 6 days. We find that
God's day is from sunset to sunset.
We find
that on the 7th day God rested from all His works and blessed and
sanctified the seventh day. This is why we rest on the 7th Day
Sabbath, because it is God's Sabbath, He created for US!
Here we
also find that Adam had only one commandment to keep, he was not to eat of the
tree of knowledge. Before he disobeyed, he was naked and knew it not, he had no
house, no clothes, no car, did not even have to work. This was the way God had
intended for us to live.
Adam was told if he ate from the tree of knowledge he would die. Satan
came and told the BIG lie that is still in the world today, he said eat you will
not really die. Well Eve listened to the devil and disobeyed and then brought
the fruit to Adam and he disobeyed and ate, and the world we see and live in is
the result of that disobedience, we all die, we have to work, have houses, car,
clothes, etc. Man knows good and evil and chooses to do evil to each other. We
are in deep trouble now because what God said was true, that if you eat of it
you will surely die, satan did lie. When God said to Adam if you eat of the tree
of knowledge you shall surely die, He was speaking of spiritual death as well
and physical death. The moment Adam disobeyed he lost eternal life, he lost the
right to eat of the tree of life. This is why God put a flaming sword which
turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. This is all in Gen 1-3.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is
deceitful above all things, and
desperately wicked: who can
know it?
So now here we are, we drink, we hate, we curse, we commit adultery,
fornication, steal, lie, the list goes on and on, our hearts are desperately
wicked. What do we do? How do we save our lives? Then we ask do we really want
to save our lives? We know we will die, see it every day, what we do not see is
the spiritual death that come with the physical death.
Now that man knew good and evil, and it was found that his/her heart was
desperately wicked what was God to do? Here entered in 2 things, God's law to
convince us of sin. Jesus Christ as the remedy for our sin.
Romans 7:13 Was then that which is
good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working
death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become
exceeding sinful.
God spoke his law the 10 Commandments from the mount for all men/women
to hear. Read Exodus 20, then just so you will never be confused by all the
different beliefs in the world read Deuteronomy 4 & 5 and KNOW these are all
there is. The other Law of Moses was added because the people of Israel would
not obey His 10 Cs, but we can go into that some other time, it is not important
for our salivation.

Deuteronomy 4:12
And the LORD spake unto you out of the
midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only
ye heard a voice.
13
And he declared unto you his covenant,
which he commanded you to perform,
even ten
commandments;
and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
Deuteronomy 5:22
These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the
midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice:
and he
added no more.
And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
This we
have to know, we have to believe that what God says, He means and it is true. He
told Adam if he ate of the tree he would die and he did, for 2 reasons, he lost
the right to the tree of life, but the most important one that we must
understand was because he sinned, he disobeyed God.
Ezekiel
18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul
of the son is mine:
the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Ezekiel 18:20
The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear
the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him,
and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Why was his
eating of the tree a sin? Because that is our WHOLE duty as men and women, we
are to obey. Adam only had one commandment to keep and he broke it and as said
before, look at us now.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the
conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God,
and keep his commandments: for this
is the whole duty of man.
We have
read Gen 1-3, Ex 20 and a few other verses and find we have to obey God and keep
the 10 Commandments. Now here comes the
get real part. God has given us all a freewill to do whatever we
want, really whatever we want, WE, EACH one of us has to make a choice. We do it
every day, we choose to get up, we choose to drink or not to drink, we choose
how we treat our kids, in everything we chose, we have a choice. Again here
comes the get real part, how real do you want to get? Do you want to get real
enough to choose God and choose obedience to Him about all else, above your
children, you parents, your sex, your husband, our wife? Do you choose Him over
your very life? Do you choose Him even if it meant death to obey Him?
If we make
that choice and we let the Law (10 Cs) convert our souls, that means we say it
is true and we want to obey, we do not want to turn back.
Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD
is perfect,
converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
We now find
ourselves as Paul did here in Romans, before the Law came to us we were free
willy nilly, but when the Law converted our souls, we found ourselves dead,
because even when we want to do the good we cannot, we are wicked, controlled by
the evil that is inside of us.
Romans 7: 9
For I was alive without the law
once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
10 And the commandment, which was
ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
11 For sin, taking occasion by the
commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
12
Wherefore the law is holy, and the
commandment holy, and just, and good.
13 Was then that which is good made
death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in
me by that which is good; that sin by the
commandment might become exceeding sinful.
14 For we know that the law is
spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but
what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would
not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17 Now then it is no more I that do
it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is,
in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to
perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do
not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it
is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I
would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God
after the inward man:
So what do
we do now? How do we get out of this horrible mess?
Romans 7: 24
O wretched man that I am! who shall
deliver me from the body of this death?
Here is the GOOD news....
Romans
7:25
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then
with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans
8:1 There is therefore now
no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit.
2
For the law of the Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness
of sinful flesh, and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh:
4
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but
they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Jesus came
to save us and free us from this bondage to sin. Jesus condemned sin in our
flesh, He won the war, we can live the life of obedience we choose, we no longer
will do that which we would not, we can do that which we want to.
So how do
we get this freedom, how do we get the power to do this? We get it and do it
exactly the same way our Lord Jesus Christ did it, no different, see he was
exactly as we are, and he overcame exactly as we can. He went through exactly
what we are going through.
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an
high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;
but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without
sin.
Now again
what do we do? Read Act 2
Acts 2: 37 Now when they
heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to
the rest of the apostles, Men and
brethren, what shall we do?
38
Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for
the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
This is the
pure, simple plain truth summed up in a very short letter. We need to read and
keep reading the Holy Bible, the King James Version no other. We need to commit
to and become subject to the Law of God, we need to put our faith in Jesus
Christ for our forgiveness of our sins past.
Romans 3:25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his
blood, to declare his righteousness
for the
remission of
sins that are
past, through the forbearance of God;
26
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might
be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
We need to
put ALL of our trust and faith in God, the Father of our Lord Jesus. We have to
know and believe that Jesus IS the SON of God.
Baptism
does nothing for you unless you have 100% committed to God, you have truly
repented, you have allowed the Law to change your heart, and you have said I
will follow no matter the cost, no matter the cost. If you have not truly set
your heart on this course, do not step in, for one that does this and turns back
is like a dog returning to his vomit.
2 Peter
2:20 For if after they have escaped
the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse
with them than the beginning.
21
For it had been better for them
not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it,
to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is
turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in
the mire.
This is
very serious stuff, not to be trifled with. This is not said to scare you away,
but to cause you to fear God, and choose His way. Now here is the really awesome
part, really awesome, God has PROMISED that if we chose this path to come and
follow Him, He will keep us, and will not let us be tempted above that which we
will be able to bare.
1 Corinthians 10:
13 There hath no temptation taken
you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not
suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
The Holy
Spirit will guide us and teach us, will convict us when we start to do wrong. It
is a battle though, our lives will not be a bed of roses, the evil will still be
around us, but we will no longer be of this world, it will not be our home, we
will be walking in the Kingdom of God, living by its rules, the 10 Cs. As the
scripture says, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 2: 5 Let this mind be in
you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with
God:
7
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a
servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
So do come,
repent, be baptized, keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ.
Romans 6: 1
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are
dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as
were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him
by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the
glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted
together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his
resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is
crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we
should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from
sin.
Baptism
does not forgive our sins, it is our confession to God that we have died to sin
and have of our own freewill determined to walk in newness of life (repentance).
When we enter into baptism with a renewed heart, we make a convent with God we
will live for Him forever, and He WILL give you the power of the Holy Spirit to
guide, direct and comfort you.
We can save
our souls from death, we can live our lives free from sin, we can overcome this
evil world, BUT the consequences of what we have done in our past will remain
with us till we die, it is not until we are with our Lord that He will wipe away
all our tears. I just want this to be very clear, coming to Him does not mean a
great job, nice house, big car. All it means is that you can live free from that
burdening sin, and that you can be an overcomer and have right to the tree of
life that was taken from us in the garden. Nothing here is worth missing that.
It does mean you will enter into a great battle; the devil will come at you with
all manner of temptation, strife, beliefs to try to cause you to fall. Will you
make mistakes, yes, you are growing, it is what you do about those mistakes that
counts, will you learn from them and do them no more, or do you just sit in them
over and over again.
You do not need a church,
it is not about church. The churches
today are corrupt and great error, it is best to stay as far away from them as
possible. It is about obedience to God.
Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in
heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world. Amen
I do obey
this command from Jesus and will be more than happy to baptize anyone that truly
understands and believes. Again this is not a magical get home free card, it is
not a mystical fix it ritual, it is not a church joining rite, it is your
confession to God and man that you have repented, that you have chosen to lay
down your life to service and obey Him. It is an awesome life when we actually
do this, I can testify as I have done it. I know. Everyone can have this if they
want it just as Kathy and I have it. But you have to decide if you really want
it.
Jesus said:
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light.
And it really is, all we have to do is obey 10 Commandments and they are not grievous, they are very simple and easy and a blessing to us in every way. A day off every week by His authority, freedom from stealing, lying, adultery, jealously, covetousness, idols, the list goes on....
I pray all
who read this will find blessing and grace to repent and be converted and keep
God commandments.
